Thanks for your interest in the
Worcester Writers Collaborative.
The WWC is a local writers' group based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Authors Cheryl Cory and Jessie Olson founded the group in September 2011. The WWC has two main goals: to connect local writers to one another and to connect our member writers to readers.
We have over three hundred members so far. We span generations, and we write in all different genres, styles and formats. We have novelists, poets, journalists, children's authors, non-fiction authors, bloggers and editors in the WWC, along with those who write for fun, or who are just starting out on their writing adventure. We're not a critique group (Worcester already has at least one fairly large group for that purpose), but our members do sometimes attend writing workshops together and can feel free to form their own critiquing sub-groups, if they wish. Oh, and the WWC is free to join...just say you'd like to be a member and you're a member.
All of our events are of a "come when you can make it" nature, and members can feel free to attend as many or as few as they want. We meet frequently for Write-Ins (partly an excuse to gorge ourselves on snacks and coffee...) to write, socialize and share ideas for the group. We also take part in local arts events, and we sponsor our own author signings and book events in the Worcester area, as well. One of our goals is to introduce local readers to the amazing assortment of books being produced by area writers, so be on the lookout for us around the city and beyond!
This is where we do most of our on-line communication:
If you're a local writer looking for a welcoming, fun group of fellow writers, I hope you'll consider joining the WWC! We're really excited about spreading the word about our members' works and the amazing writing being done in the area. We're all about encouraging each other as we work toward our writing goals.
